1. Baxter Theatre Centre The Baxter Theatre Centre at the University of Cape Town in Rondebosch with its 70s architecture and orange domes is a vibrant cultural hub, offering all types of entertainment - music, drama, ballet, opera and intimate theatre. A major live theatre venue in Cape Town, it is at the forefront of the performing arts, presenting cutting edge works from local and international repertoires. 2. Spier Outdoor Amphitheatre The Spier’s stunning natural environment is the source of inspiration for the artists and the audie nce. Grand Scale performances take place in the 1100 - seater Spier Outdoor Amphitheatre, which traditionally presents Opera, Classical Music, Contemporary Music, Musical Theater and Dance. Using the setting of the Spier Farm as a giant stage, new venues are explored for site-specific theatre, theatre on location, shed theatre, street theatre, poetry spoken word readings, cultural workshops, visual arts, film and the many crossovers between all the genres. Theatre on the Bay The Theatre on the Bay is a cultural landmark on the Atlantic Seaboard. Located near the beachfront in Camps Bay, this comfortable theatre provides the perfect stage for world-class live entertainment. Originally a tram shed, then a converted cinema, this venue offers entertainment ranging from farces, dramas, musicals, cabarets to light comedies. South Africa's most recognised actors perform here regularly in local versions of internationally known productions. The theatre’s stylish bar, coffee bar and restaurant are open before each show and at interval. 4. Artscape Theatre Complex At the hub of Cape Town's foreshore is the Artscape Theatre Complex - a leading forum for performing arts in Cape Town. Home to independent companies such as the Cape Town Opera, the Cape Town City Ballet, the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra and Jazzart Dance Studio and a growing number of local and international performing arts companies, this theatre complex is one of a few venues in Southern Africa with the facilities to stage international musicals. 5. On Broadway 
Since it opened in Greenpoint some eight years ago, On Broadway has gained a reputation as one of Cape Town's most trendy cabaret dinner venues. It is a popular venue for polished, stylish, and high quality shows including cabaret, comedy, drama, jazz, rock and retro compilation shows, and is particularly known for hosting shows featuring female impersonators. Besides hosting many international performers, On Broadway provides young, previously inexperienced local performers with a platform to show off their extraordinary talent.
