Tour type: Boating
Website: http://www.boatcompany.co.za We are the most established boat charter company in Simon’s Town and are privileged to operate in the most beautiful bay in the world.....
Join us on Southern Right or the Spirit of Just Nuisance for an unforgettable cruise, accompanied by an informative and entertaining commentary. Please browse through our comprehensive list of cruises and don’t hesitate to contact us should you require any further information.
When we claim to be the most established charter company in Simon's Town it goes far beyond our many years of operation, or that our boats exceed government safety regulations, or even that we're the only company to have built our own safe boarding marina. What really sets our cruises apart is the wealth of experience our skippers/guides will enjoy sharing with you on each of our exciting and informative adventures.
Our qualifications too would impress the most seasoned captain!
Seal island
Situated only 8 nautical miles (about 16kms) from Simon's Town, Seal Island is home to 75,000 Cape Fur Seals, 24 different bird species and the hunting ground of the Great White Shark. En route to the island the views are truly spectacular, with Cape Point in the distance to your right, Table Mountain and the Constantia wine route to your left and ahead, the majestic Hottentot's Holland mountain range.
All year round we often encounter Dolphins, Humpback whales and Brydes whales. From July to November the Southern Right whales are plentiful in the bay and you can be assured of a sighting.
Cape Point
Described by Sir Francis Drake as the "Fairest Cape in the whole circumference of the world" and you'll definitely agree once you have experienced our magnificent guided cruise.
This cruise offer everything from whales (in season), exploring ocean caves, stunning cliff faces and the most spectacular view of Cape Point from offshore. You will also see many different bird species or may even meet up with a school of dolphins on the way.
Whale Viewing
From July to December False Bay comes alive with the annual visit of the Southern Right whales. At up to 18 metres in length and weighing nearly 50 tonnes, these magnificent, gentle giants of the sea were nearly hunted to extinction. Fortunately worldwide legislation now protects them and the numbers are rising annually.
They come into the bay to calve, mate or simply have a break from the icy Antarctic conditions. They love our warm sheltered conditions and can often be seen leaping out of the water, tail lobbing, spy-hopping, mating or simply lazing around. You need not be afraid as we keep a safe distance!
Naval Dockyard Tour
Join us aboard the Spirit of Just Nuisance as we take a slow cruise around Simon's Bay to enjoy all the historic sites and splendid scenery that Simon's Town has to offer.
Our expert guide will talk you through its rich maritime heritage, spanning both the Dutch and British occupations. Hear the story of Able Seaman Just Nuisance, the much loved Great Dane who befriended the Royal Navy sailors stationed at Simon's Town during the Second World War.
