Sunbird Mountain Retreat and Lodge is a Hout Bay establishment offering both guest house (bed and breakfast) as well as self catering accommodation. Please read the text below for more information on the two accommodation types.

Guest House
Experience the beauty of the Hout Bay valley from the comfort of our majestic guest house which is situated in tranquil forest on the back slopes of Table Mountain. The guest house is isolated from the rush of everyday life, allowing you to unwind in tranquil surroundings where you can enjoy the many attractions that Hout Bay, and indeed the Cape Peninsula offers.

The accommodation is spacious, modern and tastefully decorated to a high standard and provides the perfect setting in which to relax. Upstairs rooms are double or twin bedded, with en suite bathroom, including separate bath & shower & opening balconies with magnificent mountain & forest views.

Adjoining each room are specially designed, private opening balconies with comfortable recliners for soaking up the ambience. Rooms are equipped with Television and Coffee making facilities. Our downstairs family consists of 2 spacious adjoining rooms with shower and toilet facilities. Stable doors lead onto a patio and from here it is a short walk to our secluded pool lying in an amphitheater created by the surrounding mountains, offering stunning views & a sense "being at one with nature.

We boast a unique combination of sophistication & relaxation, blending the beauty and serenity of our forested, tranquil mountain paradise with comfort.

Self Catering Accommodation
We offer a number of exquisite self catering accommodation units for our guests. From mountain side lodging to the lush surroundings of the valley and green forest, you will truly be captivated by the serene beauty and tranquility offered by this Hout Bay accommodation.

Sunbird Mountain Lodge - Unit 1
Our self catering accommodation is ideally suited for couples. There are two spacious double bedded units with an open plan kitchen, lounge and dining area and en suite bath and toilet.

Our upstairs loft-style unit has a bright and sunny quality, created by a combination of sky lights, vibrant colour and space. There is a double bed and downstairs bathroom. The beautiful kitchen is finished with beech and black granite and is continuous with the open plan dining area and lounge.

Sunbird Mountain Lodge - Unit 2
The bottom unit adjoins the main house and is a little more compact than the loft style apartment, but has both a bath and shower, both of which have views of the garden and mountains, making this part of ones daily routine a restful and special experience.

There are two single beds in the bright, colourful yet restful bedroom. The open plan kitchenette, dining area and lounge is compact and finished in pale wood and aquamarine making it both sunny and restful.

High Summer - December through to end April
Mid Season- October through to mid November 
Low Winter - May through to end September

As our self catering accommodation is a short walk from the main Guest House, we are able to offer combinations of B&B and self catering accommodation at Sunbird Mountain Retreat.
