Rooderandt Hillside Lodge is situated in the picturesque Schoemanshoek Valley near Oudtshoorn and is surrounded by the enchanting Swartberg Mountain Range. Rooderandt’s raised location offers a spectacular view accross the valley and is abundant with indigenous fauna, flora and birdlife on its 3.5 hectares of unspoilt land.

Definitely unique with its mixture of nature, culture, 19th Century World Charm & true Klein Karoo hospitality. One is totally lost for words when trying to describe the feeling of contentment in sitting, at sunset, on the terrace overlooking the Schoemanshoek Valley. Especially if this rare experience is accompanied by a glass of good South African red wine recommended by your knowledgeable hosts, JP and Marojéan.

The House is a trove of African culture – stylishly decorated with attention to detail, furnished throughout with genuine antiques, complimenting a true South African atmosphere. Here décor is character, stretching far back into history with its poplar beam reed ceilings, an original 1897 Bolinder cast iron stove and the manor's imposing front door, originally from a 17th century hunting lodge of Simon van der Stel.

PIETER'S WRITING ROOM

This room was the study of Pieter Fourie, famouse writer and previous owner of Rooderandt Hillside Lodge. Different colour botteld, built into the wall reflects beautiful colours when the sun shines from the outside. The room has a bouble bed and is realy relaxing.

Rooderandt is perfect for a romantic getaway - Stylish, spacious, luxurious, warm and comfortable. The HONEYMOON SUITE has a private entrance, plunge pool and private garden. Offering an en-suit bathroom and an en-suit lounge. We serve a true South African breakfast in the mornings on the terrace.

The four private cottages combine the old and the new. Each one is individually decorated with genuine antique furniture, 19th century stoves, and fireplaces combined with the convenience of air-conditioning for the hot Karoo summers. Each cottage is equipped with spacious bathrooms and has a patio offering unsurpassed views across the valley. The ideal place to relax with a glass of wine and watch the magnificent sun sets.
