Nestled in the heart of the Swartland at the edge of the unique mountain range that stands as an island lies Piketberg, home to Dunn’s Castle. Piketberg is about an hour’s drive from Cape Town and a half hour’s drive from the West Coast. It stands alone in the middle of undulating fields of wheat, green vineyards and flowering canola. Dunn’s Castle was built in the late 1890’s for George Dunn and designed by Sir Herbert Baker offering cozy rooms with Victorian finishes.
There are five double rooms in the Castle complete with country décor, a fireplace and bath, all have double beds. At present we can accommodate 54 guests in total on a Bed & Breakfast or Dinner, Bed & Breakfast basis or self catering. The Castle offers a peaceful retreat from the busy lifestyle we all experience.
Enjoy a refreshing drink on the patio and gaze out on the amazing view of the entire Swartland. Savour some of South Africa's finest wines, meet friendly and hospitable people as we accompany you on a spellbound trip of the West Coast natural Beauty. The varied micro climate and landscapes, make this area a paradise for the cultivation of a wide selection of wines. The wide fertile plain is the Bread Basket of the Cape with its Golden Yellow Wheat fields reaching up to the foot of the Mountains, interrupted by Wine, Fruit and Vegetable plantations
