Accommodation Type: Guesthouse
Area: Helderberg Basin

Berg en Zee is ideally placed in the heart of the picturesque village of Gordon's Bay. The attractive bay is used as a small-craft harbour, where luxury yachts and cabin cruisers bob in tightly packed lines. With its many outdoor cafés and restaurants, the Mediterranean atmosphere of Gordon's Bay is popular with holidaymakers. All of these are a short stroll along the beach from our door.
The white sandy beaches make it a chosen destination for bathing and water sports. Berg en Zee is two minutes' walk from the well-known Bikini Beach – a particular favourite with sunbathers because the harbour wall shelters it from most winds.
Our three spacious family rooms are all in excess of 30 square metres (excluding the bathroom) and are situated on the lower level of our guesthouse. You can choose between a room with either two queen size beds or one queen size bed and two three-quarter beds. Each has an en-suite bathroom with a shower above a bath.
Our three standard rooms are situated on the upper level and they all include queen size beds and lavish seating areas. Each has an en-suite bathroom with a shower above a bath.
All rooms have a private balcony facing north across the ocean in False Bay towards Devil’s Peak and Table Mountain. The view sweeps through 180˚ as far as Cape Point and provides a fabulous framework for spectacular sunsets.
Other facilities include:
• Crisp white bed linen and soft white towels
• TV with M-net
• Bar fridge
• Tea/coffee making tray
• Heater
• Ceiling fans
And for that extra special getaway, we can offer you our “honeymoon suite” complete with four-poster bed, flowers, champagne and chocolates.
Just in case you would like to do more than gaze at our amazing sunsets, we can make some suggestions for you. Glenn is a registered tour guide and thrives on offering advice on things to do in the area. He will gladly accompany you on day tours or help you to select a tour operator to show you the sights.
To make your day perfect, Jackie will organize packed picnic lunches for you upon request. Maybe you would join us for a wine-tasting soirée in our cellar or a barbecue on our roof-top garden on selected evenings. You could also watch one of your favourite movies in the comfort of your room as DVD players are available on request.
Oh, and did we mention that Glenn is a bit of a poet in his spare time? In fact, he’s so excited about the place that he wanted to share his talents with you !!!
Spoiled for choice!
Whatever the season, there’ll be a reason
To tarry a while on the Bay.
For ramblers and cyclists there are mountains to spare
And for the rest there’s always lots of fresh air.
Beaches to frolic on, relax and raise brollies on,
Golf courses for those who prefer.
If the southeaster gusts – as at times it must
Head inland to the vineyards so fine.
The estates will astound you,
Their majesty surround you,
With the fruits of their labour divine.
Whatever the season, there’s plenty of reason
To visit us here on False Bay!
