The Eastern Cape boasts a remarkable natural diversity, ranging from the dry desolate Great Karoo to the lush forests of the Wild Coast and the Keiskamma Valley, the fertile Langkloof, renowned for its rich apple harvests, and the mountainous southern Drakensberg region at Elliot.
The main feature of the Eastern Cape is its 800km long coastline lapped by the Indian Ocean. With its long stretches of undisturbed sandy beaches, rocky coves, secluded lagoons and towering cliffs, the coastline provides the province with a rich natural tourist attraction. To the north can be found a unique rock formation with a hole where the sea gushes through, aptly named "Hole in the Wall". The village of Jeffrey's Bay hosts many world famous surfing competitions and attracts many surfers to ride the "perfect wave". Explore the rich forests of the Tsitsikamma National Park, visit the well known Addo Elephant park and meet the Big 5 in a malaria free region. At the Bloukrans Bridge on the Storms River you can experience the world's highest bungee jump! The main cities are Port Elizabeth and East London, with many villages, especially along the coast line providing for wonderful exploration of the country side and ideal for family vacations.
